Honda CR-V:-
The Honda CR-V was introduced in India more than a decade ago. The petrol-only SUV did well but lost out in the competition as the market shifted towards diesels owing to the disparity in fuel prices. Now Honda has introduced the all-new CR-V with a diesel engine along with the traditional petrol and has pitted it against the full-size SUVs in the Indian market.
The CR-V has become a full size SUV that now seats seven and offers loads of space. The design is getting rounder with each passing generation and the quirk of the contemporary Japanese design is evident in the CR-V. It gets a two-tone front fascia with a trapezoidal grille with three horizontal chrome slats. The projector headlamps with DRLs are curved and sweep back onto the fenders. The blacked out lower half gets a three part air dam with fog-lamp mounts.
The CR-V has a tall profile with a higher ground clearance and large wheels. The roofline slopes towards the D-pillar. The window frames get chrome accents and a blacked out B and C-pillar. The extended vertical tail lamps flow with the curiously shaped tailgate.
The interior is plush but simple. The two-tone interior gets leather upholstery and is offered with a sunroof as well. It gets automatic climate control, electrically adjustable and foldable wing mirrors, steering mounted audio controls, cruise control and push-button start. It also gets a touch-screen infotainment display with the top spec car along with a panoramic sunroof and an electronic parking brake. The CR-V is offered with six airbags standard along with ABS and EBD for occupant safety. Rear parking sensors and reverse camera is standard on the CR-V along with manual height adjustment for the driver seat.
The engine housed under the hood is a 2.0-litre four cylinder petrol engine. This engine develops 154bhp of power and 190Nm of torque and comes mated to CVT automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive. Honda has also got the 1.6-litre four-pot turbocharged diesel and it develops 118bhp of power and comes mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox and is also offered with all-wheel drive.
The CR-V competes with the full-size SUVs like Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero, Hyundai Santa Fe and Ford Endeavour in terms of the price tag along with the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Skoda Kodiaq.
